FUN TIMES in the ADIRONDACK PARK

Hey Guys,
I'm sorry its been so long for a blog post, we have just been preoccupied with the videos but figured it would be a good time to make a new post. A lot has happened since our last blog post including getting married, going on skiing day trips, Boston, and many other exciting things.

Our latest adventure has brought us up to upstate New York with a few friends to explore what the 6.1 million acre park(bigger than the state of Massachusetts) had to offer. We decided to go up last minute as always. When our friends asked if we had any interest in going snowmobiling with them, as you expected the answer was yes right away.

We made our 4 hour trip on Sunday morning of the presidents day weekend which was actually a nice and almost toll free ride. The last hour of the trip brought us into the actual park where the scenery was filled with pine trees and half frozen lakes...oh and the 5 feet of snow. It was a great 55 mph cruise through the woods which brought us to our destination Eagle Bay.

We decided that Sunday would be a good day to go for a hike up to a local fire tower at Bald mountain and let us have time to settle into the outdoors. The start of the hike was easy but the packed snow/ice made it very difficult the steeper it got. It was a great scenic hike along a ridge witch overlooked the park and the 4th lake, the view was stunning. You can check out our video if you want to see but we recommend seeing it in person as well. At the top was the awaited fire tower it was about 45 feet up and very windy at the top but it was a 360 degree panorama of the Adirondacks.

The way down was a progress to say the least, we gave up trying to be safe, layed down and slid down the the icy slopes. We were lucky that it was so warm or we would have been frozen from the water that soaked our clothes. From there the next destination was the Big Moose Inn.

The Inn was beautiful with a Adirondack style layout and a lake side side view, the best part was the bar and fireplace downstairs. That night we met up with our friends and went for a quick ride on their sleds through the woods in the dark, that was a learning experience to say the least.

The next day we went to rent a sled at Clark's Marina 5 miles down the road they had great prices. For a 2 person sled was 205$ for 8 hours which was about all we could handle for the day after the hike the previous one. once we left the marina that is when the problems started, there wasn't any cellphone reception so we couldn't contact our friends but after 10 minutes and planning prior where to meet we were successful.

Then one of their 3 snowmobiles wouldn't start but after 10 minutes we got it going. From there we had to fuel them up since the plan was to do 100 ish miles before the day ended but it was already 9.30. Once again at the fuel pump we had problems starting it but this time we couldn't get it to turn over. Someone had to tow it out of the way and then he had to go rent another sled, then after that we finally got going the riding was not so great at first because there was a lot of bumps due to high traffic and warmth from the weekend.

We eventually found some great smooth snow and got to really enjoy it. The day was going great and then the second of the 3 snowmobiles broke and luckily a passer by helped us, If it weren't for him we would be stuck 20 miles into the woods. We decided that now would be a good time to call it a day.

On our way back a certain someone decided to flip the sled over on us on a hill(Lucie)but with some help[ from friends we got it right side up and  eventually made it back to the vehicles, and packed up. We headed out on the road with our friends for the 4 hour ride back home and were sad to leave but it was a fantastic weekend for sure. There is nothing like great company and some fast reckless fun.

Until next time, stay wild and keep exploring(hopefully it will not be too long)!
